Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello potential Au Pair!

We are a small family of 3, plus 2 pets (cat and dog). We have a young baby boy who was born in June of last year, so he is almost 10 months old (April 2025) that we would love your help with! Dimitri is a very happy baby who is not walking or talking yet, but crawling, eating food and exploring the world!
He's a pretty good napper and sleeper, eater and is usually in a great mood!
He laughing and playing of all kinds and we are mostly looking for someone who can help us with that!

We would be welcoming you to our small ocean-side town called Sooke on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. If you are looking for a west-coast Canadian experience, we can definitely offer that!

We are looking for someone to join us either in April-May who can house, garden and cat-sit while we are away for 6 weeks this summer or someone who can join us in August. We prefer a long-term stay.

We live in a town called Sooke, it is small town with not a lot going on other than a lot of nature close by and some shops.
It is a great place for hiking, mountain biking, surfing, paddle boarding, and any other more simple outdoor activities.

We live 45 minutes way from the city of Victoria by car, which has lots of city things to offer!

Job Description

The majority of the job is hanging out with Dimitri.
Typically from 9am-1pm then a couple hour break and then from 3/4pm-6pm before dinner. But this can change.
This would include bottle feeding him, helping him with solids, diaper changes, walks in the carrier or stroller, taking him to the pool and/or playgroup in town and occasionally babysitting in the evening if we go out.
However, all details, scheduling and activities can be discussed, changed and modified to suit us all!

We also appreciate someone who helps us with dish clean up after meals and vaccuming of the common areas.

If you like to cook, we would love to include you in our cooking rotation.

Accommodation

The property is ocean front. It is quite beautiful and quiet where we are! We have 3 houses on 1 acre of property: ours, Dimitri's grandfathers and Tristan's cousin who lives with her two teenage children.

You will mostly be spending time in our house for hanging with Dimitri and meals but you will have your own accommodation in Dimitri's grandfather's home which is just next door, it is also where Natalia sees her acupuncture clients. 1 minute walk from our house.

Your accommodation has a private entrance, private balcony looking out on the ocean, private full bathroom and a studio sized bedroom with couch, bed, mini fridge and kettle- there are some pictures on the profile.
