Work abroad in Nicola's family for 2-12 Months starting from Nov 2024 as an Au Pair to take care of 2 children of 1 - 5 years old & 6 - 10 years old in Speyer, Rhineland-Palatinate Germany

Dear future au pair, I would like to introduce ourselves a little so that you have an idea of ​​who we are. We are a family of four. My name is Nicola, my husband is called Klaus, and our two sons are called Sebastian (8 years old) and Niklas (4 years old). We have had two small cats for a few weeks. Klaus and I are both doctors. We live in our house in the city center of beautiful Speyer. Speyer is a medium-sized city with around 50,000 inhabitants. It is a very old city, founded by the Romans over 2000 years ago. We have 2 world heritage sites here in Speyer: the cathedral and our Jewish bath. There is also a well-known historical museum, a technology museum, a large aquarium, bathing lakes, a swimming pool, a cinema,... There is really a lot to do here in the city. Since Speyer is not very big, you can do everything within the city by bike. We live in the Rhine Valley, an area with mostly mild winters and warm summers. There is rarely snow here. But you can go to the Black Forest for that. Speyer has good rail connections to Mannheim (25 minutes) and Heidelberg (40 minutes). You can also get to Frankfurt in 70 minutes. Frankfurt and Stuttgart are the two airports nearby.
Sebastian is in the 3rd grade, his school starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. The school is about 1 km away, right next to our big cathedral. He rides his bike, and one of your tasks will be to accompany him to school and pick him up.
Niklas goes to kindergarten. In the morning we look after him, get him ready and take him there. The care there ends at 4:30 p.m. at the latest and usually my husband or I pick him up. But occasionally that will be your task too.
During the warm season we spend the weekends in the Palatinate in Leinsweiler in our holiday home. It's about 35 minutes by car. It's a simple wooden house, but we feel very comfortable there. We go hiking a lot, work in the garden, play football with the boys, or just enjoy the sun. There are many castles and ruins nearby that you can hike to, e.g. the Trifels, the Neukastell ruins, the Madenburg, Landeck Castle. We can usually spend the weekends there from Easter onwards. In the evenings we often have a campfire.
But even when we are not staying in the holiday home, we like to go hiking. We have a group of friends with whom we regularly meet for smaller and larger tours.
We would be very happy if you would like to spend time with us on the weekends too. But it is also clear that over time you will meet your own friends with whom you will do things.
