Job Description

Self Employed live in Nurse / Carer required in the Lytham St Anne’s Area

You will deliver gold standard, one to one, holistic care in the comfort of the female clients’ home. This is your opportunity to make a real difference to someone’s life every single day. If you are non-smoking female who is reliable, professional, caring, committed and fluent in English then read on.

WORKING HOURS
As a live-in professional you will be living with your client. The hours of which are flexible and to be arranged between you and the client. Monday to Saturday are normal working days however You will normally have every Sunday to yourself from morning until bedtime. (potential to swap days if desirable and specific times to be agreed)

You are expected to have 8 hours sleep, and should your sleep be regularly interrupted we will have to organise a waking night carer in place when needed in order to ensure this is respected.

WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM YOU
Your first and foremost priority is your client, their health and wellbeing. You will assist with the following as required:

- Ensure the clients physical, emotional, and social needs are met
- Carry out assessments & develop, implement, and evaluate an individualised care plan.
- Monitor work areas and practices to ensure they are safe and conform to the relevant standards, policies and legislation
- Have an innate ability to quickly identify any issues or concerns and act accordingly.
- Delivering clinical guidance to external carers.
- Have excellent communication skills
- Be independent, self-motivated and able to manage your own diary with minimal supervision
- Motivate, Mentor, Monitor and provide instructions to external carers.
- Overseeing administration of Medication (performed by external carers)
- Monitoring general health and liaising with healthcare professionals and family
- Overseeing Washing / dressing (performed by external carers)
- Overseeing the preparation of meals (performed by external carers)
- Food shopping
- Light domestic housework
- Overseeing Changing bed linen (performed by external carers)
- Clothes washing and ironing
- Assisting with paperwork, post and writing letters
- Companionship: reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaws, board games, shopping, visiting park and cricket club etc
- Preferred but not essential - Be a registered Nurse or working towards that. (RGN, RSCN or RNLD)
- Always promoting the clients independence, choice and dignity by delivering the very best standards of care and striving for continuous improvement.

Liaising with:
- Family
- Doctors, district nurses & other medical professionals
- Chiropodists / hairdressers / opticians
- Escorted outings for example to appointments or for social occasions and/or garden centres, cricket club, St Annes Square, Sea Front, Donuts on the pier.
- You may be required to assist with the following:
- Minor first aid medical attention e.g. minor cuts, bruises and burns
- Occasionally using a hoist (Emergency only as 2 people are required for standard hoists, 1 person may use a fixed hoist)
- Inject medicines ( coordinating with healthcare professionals)

WHAT TO EXPECT

You will be provided with your own private room 7 days a week, which contains:

- Your own bedroom (rent free)
- A bed (with clean adequate bedding)
- Clear storage space for your belongings (wardrobe)
- Adequate lighting, heating and a door that closes
- Use of a bathroom with toilet, basin and shower facilities
- Internet
- Private TV in room

MEALS - FOOD & DRINKS
You are expected to eat with the client during meal times, and the cost of such meals are met by the client. If however, you would like something specific/unusual then you must supply this yourself, for example Lady Grey tea bags as opposed to English Breakfast tea bags.
You are prohibited from consuming alcohol while on duty, as well as during your 2 hour break.

UNIFORM & PERSONAL PROTECTIVE CLOTHING

The following will be provided as requested:
- Anti-bacterial hand wash
- Protective gloves

- Apron (if necessary, for example, if a client is incontinent)
- Any other cleaning products or equipment required.
- Any other equipment specified in the care plan in order that you can effectively carry out your duties such as walking frame, wheelchairs, etc.

Holiday
28 days paid holiday a year. (inclusive of statutory bank holidays).

Time requirement:
Full-time – 6 days on – 1 day off.

Payment
£2250 Monthly Payment Gross (equivalent £27,000 annually)
