Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We are a small family living on beautiful Scotland Island, just north of Sydney. Our home is surrounded by nature and only accessible by boat or ferry, making it a peaceful and unique place to live—while still being relatively close to the city. Please note that getting to the house involves a bit of a commute, so this role is ideal for someone who enjoys a quiet, nature-filled lifestyle.

We have a bright and energetic five-year-old daughter who is full of curiosity and always on the move! We’re looking for someone kind, patient, and confident with children to help with:
• Morning school drop-offs and afternoon pickups
• Light household tasks, such as laundry or tidying
• Bedtime routines, particularly when we have evening commitments

We are looking for someone who is mature, independent, and self-sufficient. While we love hosting and sharing our home, this is not a student exchange or cultural placement — we’re not looking to take on another dependent. Ideally, you’re someone who genuinely enjoys caring for children and can manage day-to-day responsibilities confidently.

While food will always be available in the house, we don’t always have time to cook every night, so we do expect our au pair to feel comfortable helping themselves when needed.

Accommodation

We live on a island, there is a ferry but the island is water access only, please google Scotland island in Sydney.

We offer $300 per week(negotiable for the right candidate), plus free accommodation and food. You’ll have your own self-contained unit downstairs, providing privacy and independence.

We do travel often and when we go away, the au pair is welcome to join us if they are able to assist with Lily during the trip — we’ll cover all travel and accommodation costs, and of course provide appropriate time off during the holiday.
