Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We are a family of five and are currently experiencing our fourth year with an Aupair Program. We currently have an Au Pair from Brazil. We love this experience, but she decided to pursue other experiences outside the Au Pair program and will be leaving us at the end of March., We are looking for a new care professional to join our family. We are looking for an Au Pair with some specialized training and experience in handling children with ADHD, impulsivity and ODD ( Oppositional Defiant Disorder) and experience teaching Elementary level school.

We live in Trenton, New Jersey, near New York City and Philadelphia. It takes 45-60 minutes by train to get to Manhattan (the center of New York City) or Philadelphia. Our area is near Princeton, New Jersey the which has many stores, restaurants, movies, and universities nearby. We also live about 35 minutes from the New Jersey shore with plenty beaches to choose from in the summer time. We live 10 minutes from Six Flags Great Adventure, a large amusement park and water park.

Job Description

Caregiver’s responsibilities will include driving the boys to activities as needed if have a drivers license, playing with them, keeping them engaged, helping with virtual school work, preparing meals, and feeding them. She/he will put them to bed occasionally, but we expect most of the work to happen from morning to afternoon. The caregiver will clean up after them but also teach them to clean up when possible. After preparing the meals (putting dishes away and keeping kitchen clean), keep the play areas and their rooms clean, and take care of their laundry.

We expect a mature au pair or nanny that is able to have open lines of communication with us. We expect the Aupair to have a very good understanding of what is ADHD, impulsivity, lack of focus and control and defiant behaviors. Our children are good and nice kids but they are very challenging. We need someone that is well experienced and prepared and can accept to face those challenges.
