Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello, we are a Mexican family of two parents looking for an au pair or nanny for our two-year-old son. We live and work in Tulum. You may have heard of Tulum, as it's an interesting city for both young people and families. It's a growing city. Many people have decided to come and live in Tulum for many reasons: the weather, the beach, proximity to nature, getting away from the hustle and bustle of big cities, among many others. In Tulum, you find everything you need to have a peaceful and pleasant lifestyle, and it's a safe city. The distances aren't long; public transportation isn't the best, however, since it's not that big a city, people get around without problems by bicycle or scooter. The interesting thing about Tulum is that you meet and get to know people from different parts of Mexico and around the world. It's a multicultural community, very well-integrated and connected. We live not too far from the center; our son's school is about 2 km away and our office is about 5 km away. Because it's a city with a large population and foreign visitors, there are several language schools; the average distance to language schools is 3 km. Playa del Carmen is 60 km away, and Cancún is 120 km away. Traveling to Playa del Carmen, for example, costs approximately USD 5 round-trip by public transportation. The new Maya Train station is a little far from downtown Tulum. However, the local population doesn't use it to travel to other destinations; only tourists occasionally travel there.

Job Description

We need support from an au pair or nanny. Before the 2025 summer holidays, we need Rodrigo to be cared for in the afternoons, between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., while we, the parents, continue working. At first, the nanny wouldn't be alone, but at least one of us would be present with the nanny while we carry out other work-related activities or housework. We need our son to be cared for and looked after during these times. Later, as we all get to know each other and gain more confidence, the plan is for the nanny to care for the child alone for periods of up to eight hours. During the summer holidays, we may need more support, especially in the mornings. We hope to enroll him in a summer course, but we haven't defined it yet. Summer support could perhaps extend to eight hours a day. Specific skills the nanny will need are, above all, tolerance and patience. Although we speak almost only Spanish at home, we try to speak English to our son occasionally. In fact, we have no problem if the nanny has a native language other than Spanish and wishes to speak that language to the child. Everyone in our home helps with cleaning and other responsibilities, so we would like the nanny to do so alongside us as well. Nanny support would be primarily provided between Mondays and Fridays, and occasionally on Saturday mornings. We only ask for conscientious use of the housekeeping services offered, primarily for cost reasons.

Accommodation

The nanny would have their own bedroom and full bathroom. The home where we live in Tulum is practically new; it's an apartment within a secure neighborhood with controlled access. This residential complex offers common amenities, such as a gym and swimming pools. Our apartment has all the amenities, and we cover the expenses, including food and household supplies. Our additional compensation covers the nanny's personal expenses. We also have Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
