Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello, Thank you for your interest in helping our family! Do you have good tutoring skills and a love of French language and culture - ideally Quebecois? Are you open-minded, independent, confident and happy to share a comfortable home and garden with a lovely 10-11 year old boy and friendly 6 year old Black Labrador? Would you enjoy living for a few months in a picturesque historic small town in the middle of England, complete with charming old buildings, classic pubs, Friday open-air markets in the town square and surrounded by lovely green countryside? Would you like the chance to experience British rural life as well as spend the occasional weekend off in Cambridge or London (both within 2 hours travel)? Then please contact me and tell me a bit about yourself, your education, experience and why you might be a good fit for us. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Job Description

I am looking for someone to design and deliver a 1:1, at-home French language learning programme for my son over the next 6 months, to help him prepare for French-language schooling in Canada, ideally on par with Grade 5 in French immersion in Ontario. My son is bright and capable but currently has almost no French knowledge. I used to be fluent in French but have lapsed due to low level of use in the UK, and we do not currently speak French in our home (although I would be happy to speak more!). French tutoring sessions would have to fit around my son's regular school and sports activities so I would imagine would entail a small number of dedicated teaching hours per week (est 5 hours). With a francophone speaker in our home, we could also have other informal French learning opportunities integrated with more routine childcare or other domestic activities (up to 10 hours per week). These activities could include help with homework, music practice, meal preparation and cleanup, dogwalking, laundry, or cleaning. In total, I would expect about 15 hours of help per week and the rest of time would be free to use as you wish.
