Welcome Letter to the Au Pair
We are a family with two delightful sons (ages 7 and 2 1/2 yrs.) and are looking for an au-pair who would like to become part of our family for a while. We are a caring, fun and active family who loves nature. Being part of our family means that on one hand you will be able to participate in our diverse activities and fun lifestyle and on the other hand be expected to share basic household responsibilities. It is very important to us that you will enjoy taking care of our children and partake in our lives at home and on family vacations. Dad (48) is self-employed and mom (45) is working part-time. There is just kind of a daily routine as the older boy goes to school and so work starts somewhen in the afternoon. Sometimes there is more work on weekends or during holidays.
We live in Vienna, witch is the capital of Austria and a beautiful city and an amazing place to live. There is a lot going on in and around Vienna. We have one the biggest cultural life worldwide with concerts (from classic to modern), museums of any kind a great forest the wraps around Vienna (the so called Wienerwald), the Danube and lakes and mountains in reasonable distance.
Job Description
The older had started with school in September, the other is in a bilingual Kindergarden. So normally there should not be a lot stress until 3pm. My husband is coming home usually around 7pm in main season, the other 9 months is quite relaxed, and flexibel.
Attention to detail, diligence and cleanliness are very important to us. We also expect kindness, independent thinking and a strong sense of responsibility, as well as the ability to engage with the children creatively and actively. Most of the time you would not be alone with the children, nevertheless you should feel confident watching them both occasionally.
During the summer, we like to spend time near a lake about 2 1/2 hours from Vienna surrounded by the mountains in the so called Salzkammergut (as seen on the pictures), therefore you should enjoy nature, be a good swimmer and able to enjoy activities in the nature. During winter time we like to take the children skiing. If your favorite thing is eating popcorn and watch movies on Netflix we might not be your best choice.

Accommodation
You would be living in a studio apartment. It is 30 minutes from the city center via public transportation. Our house and the studio apartment are 20minutes from each other via public transport. As your apartment is on the way between work, house, Kindergarden and school we might pick you up on the way. Your studio apartment is 325 square feet, furnished, and has a kitchenette and small bathroom with shower. Freshly renovated last year. The aupair is always invited to stay in our house, to use the infrastructure of it and also stay over night, if this is wished.
