Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Originally translated from Deutsch
Hello and welcome to our profile.
We are the family from Germany. To be more precise, we live in a small town in North Rhine-Westphalia, very close to the border with the Netherlands. Our town is about 1 hour away from the Ruhr metropolis (Essen, Bottrop, Oberhausen, Gelsenkirchen, Duisburg and Dortmund).
We live in a detached house with our own garden and have enough space in the house so that you have your own room with a bed, desk, TV, sofa bed and cupboards. The room also has a clear view towards the Netherlands and the surrounding agricultural areas.
Now to our family. We are a family of 4 consisting of mom Nadine (38), dad Michael (40), daughter Nathalie (8) and son Alexander (5). We also have 2 Main Coon cats in the household.
We need your support in the area of childcare, especially in the afternoons, i.e. after school and daycare have finished. That is the actual core time for the children. In the morning, however, you should help us prepare for school / daycare and, if necessary, at least accompany your son to the facility and pick him up again.
We can also use support in the household. There would also be work to be done here. This includes doing the children's laundry, keeping their rooms tidy, preparing games for the afternoon, keeping the basic order in the shared rooms (we are not too fussy because we still live in the house and don't want to keep everything sterile) and if you have a passion for cooking, we would be happy to have you enrich the kitchen. However, this is not a mandatory requirement. Your weekly working hours are around 30-35 hours. It can be more per week, depending on what is coming up, but this will be balanced out in the following week. Of course, you are entitled to 1.5 completely free days per week as well as vacation. However, this must be agreed with us beforehand. We will certainly find a solution here. Our wish is that you become a full part of the family and integrate yourself independently.

What we are looking for:
We are looking for a young woman who is interested in languages, can integrate well, enjoys grilling with us and has no aversion to meat, who wants to stay with us for a period of at least 12 months and, if things go well, can stay for up to 24 months. The father is mainly responsible for communication if this is done in English or Dutch. You can of course communicate well with everyone in German.

You should also come from an EU country or a country with a simplified entry structure, as we have unfortunately just experienced the madness of the bureaucracy with a negative outcome. 6 months of time is not wasted...

If you have any questions, please contact us.

We expect a creative approach to the children, sometimes supervision on weekends so that Nadine and I can do something. Of course, you will still get your compensatory days.
If I am away on business in the future, I can take you to the Ruhr area or to other destinations within Germany. I don't know exactly where I will end up. It depends on the workload.
You should be used to dealing with children. A first aid course for children would be advantageous, but not necessary.
Basic knowledge of the German language, i.e. the A1 certificate, should be available.
Of course, you have the option of taking a language course to further improve your language skills. We will support you in this.
