Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello, it’s nice to meet you! We are a family of four, soon five! Myself Kayleigh, my husband Immanuel, our 2 year old daughter Mila, and our 1 year old daughter Aliyah. We are looking for a respectful, kind and responsible au pair who we can share some of our home life with :)

We have a relaxed style of living and enjoy going for walks with our little girls and playing with them during the day. My husband is working full time in a work from home job, and I take care of our little ones. We are Christians and enjoy playing Christian music sometimes in the house as well as going to church if we can make things work with our daughters sleep!

We love to eat lots of meat and our little girls do too. We often buy meat in bulk online and then prepare our meals for the next few days in one go. It would be nice to have someone help chop some meat or onions/keep an eye on stirring the food whilst it cooks. General tidiness around the house is appreciated. Putting things away after you use them and wiping the counter if you see a little mess.

My husband and I would love to take a walk in the evenings sometimes (maybe 30 minutes - 1 hour) and it would be nice if the au pair can be at home some time after 6pm for 3 or 4 nights of the week so we can do that. Our girls generally sleep through the night, so it would really be a case of listening out for the baby monitor and letting us know if they do happen to wake or stir so we can come home quickly. If you can also be home for one full evening a week so we have a chance to go out to dinner that would also be lovely.

You would have full use of the house. We have a room downstairs with a shower and bathroom next door to it. This would be for you to use. The kitchen and living space are open plan and you’d have full access to it, although sometimes my husband and I may ask for a bit of space to ourselves to talk etc and so perhaps then you could spend some time rather relaxing in your bedroom but of course can pop out for the kitchen and bathroom or leaving the house. In general we are quite relaxed.

Mon-Fri 5 hours per day, and Sunday afternoon 2pm-6pm (1 Sunday off per month)

Example tasks include things like:
Watching/playing with Mila and Aliyah
Changing kids nappies
Keeping the house clean- clean the bathrooms, change the dustbin on the hoover, wash windows, laundry, clearing up after breakfast, clean the oven
Tidying the girls play corner at lunch time and at the end of the day
Unloading the dishwasher in the morning
Watering the plants in the house
If you like to cook, that would be totally welcome but not compulsory
Sometimes we are doing little projects in the garden so if she want to join or help with these things, also super welcomed

Immanuel works from home and so is around during the day but most of the work day would be spent with me as I’m with the girls when Immanuel is in his office. We like to go for lots of walks and spend time in the garden. On the weekends we usually go to church on Sunday.
In the house we do have a TV but we don’t use it during the day when the girls are awake. We also try to avoid using mobile phones around the girls. They don’t watch any cartoons or play video games. We read lots of books with them and play with toys. The au pair bedroom is downstairs on the ground floor next to the guest bathroom/shower room, and the rest of the bedrooms are upstairs.

Coming to live with us would provide you with a chance to see a growing family in a different culture, experience new things in Germany, work on new language skills, and develop in your personality and experience of the world. You would be able to enjoy living in a new country without having to worry about figuring out accommodation and food.

We currently have an au pair who will stay with us until the end of October and we are looking to find a replacement for the time after.

Other information:
We live in a sweet, small village. There is a farm where we get our milk, and honey and eggs are also bought from neighbours. It is not a 'party'/city town, but if you enjoy nature and peace and quiet, then you'll like it here.
The large City centre with shopping mall etc is 1.2 hours by bus on the weekend, and 1 hour away mon-fri
There is large town just 15 minutes away by bus which has a small high street and shopping
Language course - online course recommended)
Things to do - hikes in the hills, skiing in winter at small nearby ski slope, see the nearby farmer with cows and horses, visit the Kassel city centre for the Hercules palace or Art exhibition and restaurants

Warm regards
Kayleigh, Immanuel, Mila & Aliyah
