Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hi!

We are Steffen, Diana, Clara, and the twins Hannah and Liz — a warm and active family living in the south of Germany.

We would love to welcome you into our home and give you the chance to experience German culture, improve your German, and become part of our fun-loving and open-minded family. You’ll be living with three lovely girls and two friendly cats!

We live in our own row house in a quiet and family-friendly area, just a 10-minute walk from the S-Bahn (local train) station. You can also walk to the city centre and nearby grocery stores, so everything you need is close by. We have friendly neighbours and a welcoming atmosphere in our neighbourhood ?.

Job Description

You will work around 30 hours per week. Most of the time, your main responsibilities will be taking care of the children, helping with light housework, and preparing meals.
We especially need your help in the mornings for about one hour snd a half and again in the afternoon after kindergarten which ends at 2 o‘clock.

Evenings and weekends are your free time – we respect your personal time, with only very rare exceptions.

We will pay for your insurance and provide a public transport ticket (called the Deutschlandticket). If needed, we can also provide a bike to help you get around.
You will receive 280 Euros pocket money per month. We will also cover the costs of a German language course (up to 70 Euros per month).

At the moment, only Steffen is working, but this will change in autumn when Diana returns to her part-time job. Our weekday mornings start around 6:00 AM as we get ready for work and kindergarten. Steffen doesn’t always work from home – some days he goes to the office, other days he’s at home.

In the mornings, we really appreciate having an extra pair of hands – helping with breakfast, getting the kids dressed, and maybe walking Clara to kindergarten After that, you’ll have plenty of free time for yourself: to rest, explore the town, attend a language course, or meet other au pairs.

In the afternoons, you might spend time with the children, play, or help with small tasks around the house – depending on the day and your schedule.

Accommodation

As our au-pair, you’ll have your own private room with a balcony and share the bathroom with us.

We live in a small town with around 20,000 inhabitants. It’s the perfect size – not too big, not too small – and has everything you need: shops, cafés, playgrounds, and local events. You can buy all the daily essentials right in town, or you can easily take the S-Bahn to larger cities like Böblingen or Stuttgart. We also love how close we are to nature – even the Black Forest isn’t far away!
