Work abroad in Wei-ming's family for 10-12 Months starting from Sep 2024 as an Au Pair to take care of 1 children of 1 - 5 years old & 6 - 10 years old in Westbury, New York USA

Hi There,

This is a single-parent-ish household with a 43-year-old mom, a 5-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old cat (he is the first-born). My name is Wei-ming, and I am a grant writer working for one of New York City's most famous performing arts organizations. I am Taiwanese born and raised, and my son Joseph is half Taiwanese, half Jewish-Italian. My husband will be working and living in a different state for the duration of the Au Pair's term, and will not be able to visit during the Au Pair's stay. That is why I will be a single parent for the next year or two, and why I would love the help of an Au Pair.

The work will involve mostly babysitting the five-year-old before and after school, one day during the weekend, and some light housework (like vacuuming and cooking).

I moved to New York for grad school 20 years ago, and have been a New Yorker since then. I have worked in technology research, performing and visual arts, and have extensive knowledge in academics, the arts industry, and cultural resources in general in New York City and the US. For an Au Pair from Taiwan hoping to explore the rich culture of New York City, I will be a great resource.

My son Joseph will turn five in October 2024. He is happy and active, loves to watch TV, eat, and tell you stories that he made up. This is an all-English household right now and I would love for someone from Taiwan to help me teach him proper Mandarin (and Taiwanese!). He goes to school five days a week, so there will be more time for the Au Pair during the week day for their own pursuits. The cat is old and can be very cuddly in the winter.

We live in Westbury, a central town on Long Island with a lot of shopping, fun, culture and educational institutions within a 15-miute drive. I commute into New York City three days a week. After a short drive to the train station, it only takes 45 minutes to get into midtown Manhattan. My husband's parents, Joseph's grandparents, live in the same town and are very involved in our lives. They are both retired college professors with an open mind and interest in cultural exhange.

This is a generally happy household with a lot of resources for cultural exchange. We have wifi, a car, a cellphone, many streaming services, a full-sized bedroom available for you on the ground floor, and you would basically have your own bathroom except for Joseph's bathtime. Suburban living space with big city access. We would love to welcome you to our home.
