Au Pair in France: duties

Your main responsability as an Au Pair will usually be taking care of the children and all the duties you may perfom should be related to childcare.

In any case, the Host Family should accept that you need free time to attend a language course and you should NOT work more hours than what is established in the official Au Pair program.

Here you will find a list of the duties you may be expected to perfom and a list of duties you should NOT do as an Au Pair.

What can an Au Pair do?

  • Take / pick up the children from school or any other activity
  • Cook some light meals for the kids
  • Keep both Au Pair's and children's room tidy
  • Help the children to get dressed
  • Prepare light meals for the children
  • Play with the children
  • Help the children with their homework
  • Help with light housework (ironing, vacuuming, laundry)

What should an Au Pair NOT do?
