Au Pair in Italy: duties


The duties you will be perfoming will depend on your host family but it is really important that both Au Pair and host family discuss the tasks the Au Pair will be doing. 

Don't forget to write everything down in the contract and read it carefully before you sign it. In order for you to know what are the duties you will be expected to do, here a list of what Au Pairs should and should NOT do.


What can an Au Pair do?


  • Help the children with their homework
  • Take / pick up the children from school or any other activity
  • Help with light housework (ironing, vacuuming, laundry)
  • Play with the children
  • Help the children to get dressed
  • Prepare light meals for the children
  • Keep both Au Pair's and children's room tidy
  • Cook some light meals for the kids


What should an Au Pair NOT do?


  • Look after pets
  • Look after someone else's children
  • Cook meals for the whole family
  • Clean non-shared rooms
