The Au Pair contract is a formal document that helps with your visa application. It also makes the relationship between Host Family and Au Pair official. Download the contract template on our website and modify it according to your needs.
Both parties should discuss mutual expectations and important details of the contract. Below are just a few important points that need to be included:
If there is a conflict between Au Pair and Host Family and they can’t find a solution, they might consider terminating the contract. Both parties have two weeks to find a replacement or an alternative solution.
Luxembourg has its own insurance system for participants. Participants will be covered by social security for their whole stay abroad. For that, the Host Family needs to register their Au Pair with the Communal Centre of Social Security (CCSS).
The Host Family is responsible for covering all required fees during the application. Afterward the CCSS will send the confirmation of the participant’s registration to the Host Family. The Au Pair has to present it to the National Youth Service within one month after their arrival to Luxembourg.
Car insurance and driving license
Before the participant’s arrival abroad, we suggest clarifying their responsibilities during the stay. One of the most important questions is: does the Au Pair have to drive the children to school or other activities?
If so, both parties need to check whether the Au Pair’s driving licence is recognized in Luxembourg.
The participant might have to register their license with the National Society of Automobile Circulation (SNCA). We also recommend clearing any questions about the car insurance in case of accidents. Discuss all these details and mention them in the contract to avoid possible problems abroad.
