The contract and the insurance are both important documents of the Au Pair program. They help to ensure safety for both parties in case of potential incidents.
In this post, we will break down the process for getting both documents.
The Au Pair contract
The Au Pair contract is a formal document that helps with the visa application. It also makes the relationship between the Host Family and the participant official. Download the template of the contract on our website and modify it according to own requirements.
Both parties should discuss mutual expectations and important details of the contract. Below are just a few important points that need to be included:
If there is a conflict between an Au Pair and a Host Family and no one can see a possible solution to it, they might consider terminating the contract. Both parties have two weeks to find a replacement or an alternative solution.
The Au Pair insurance in Luxembourg
Luxembourg has its own insurance system for participants. The participants will be covered by the social security for the whole stay abroad. For that, the Host Family needs to register their Au Pair with the Communal Centre of Social Security (CCSS).
The Host Family is responsible to cover all required fees during the application. Afterward the CCSS will send the confirmation of participant’s registration to the Host Family. The Au Pair has to present it to the National Youth Service within one month after his/her arrival to Luxembourg.
Car insurance and driving license
Before the participant’s arrival abroad, we suggest to clarify his/her responsibilities during the stay. One of the most important questions is: Does the she/he have to drive children to school or other activities by car?
If yes, both parties need to check whether the Au Pair’s driving licence is recognized in Luxembourg.
