Au Pair in Switzerland - Au Pair duties

Au Pairs will mostly be expected to take care of the children and do some light duties related to childcare.

However, it is very important for both Au Pair and family to respect the Au Pair's working hours and make sure the Au Pair has the time to visit a language course during the stay.

Following you will find two lists about the duties an Au Pair will be expected to perform, as well as those the Au Pair should NOT perform.

What can an Au Pair do?

  • Keep both Au Pair's and children's room tidy
  • Help the children to get dressed
  • Play with the children
  • Take / pick up the children from school or any other activity
  • Cook some light meals for the kids
  • Help the children with their homework
  • Prepare light meals for the children
  • Help with light housework (ironing, vacuuming, laundry)

What should an Au Pair NOT do?

  • Look after someone else's children
  • Cook meals for the whole family
