I have experience working with children, as a volunteer at a local guides unit, whereby I help the girls prepare for proposed weekends away. In addition, when guides are new I act as a mentor, helping them with any issues they may have, and ensuring they feel part of the group.
Furthermore, with St. John's Ambulance I have been out on duty several times, administering first aid to children, which of course involves a good level of interaction.
Both of these volunteering schemes have helped me at my current job of Clarks, where although I am not officially caring for children, I am working closely with them to ensure a good customer experience.
I would like to be an au pair abroad, because I enjoy working with children, and building rapports with people internationally, helping me to learn and develop my language skills, making more adaptable for future positions. In addition, I love learning about new languages, cultures (and of course) cuisines - as can be evidenced by the fact I am a languages student. Also, when I am older, I would love to travel and live in numerous different countries and I believe this will help me for that in the future.
