Besides the obvious (cultural exchange and travel), I really want to grow in taking care of people and experience what it's like to be around people who are completely different from what I know. I want to learn to take care of people who are different from me because that is the ultimate refiner of love and character. I would love to add a sense of both warmth and diligence to the home regardless of the age.

Hard skills:

For au pair: Most of my friends consider me to have a "childlike heart" which I think is extremely necessary when connecting with kids-- seeing them eye to eye and really making them feel heard and important. I have 3 years of experience in supporting primary school aged kids to teens in my church (teaching lessons, delegating tasks, effective communication etc.) I really would love to play a cool older sibling/cool aunt role as an au pair.

For home share: Both of my parents are a bit older than most of my friends' parents and as the youngest child, I've grown accustomed to taking care of them. My dad experiences a plethora of health issues including Parkinsons so I am familiar with what is required to offer companionship and warmth to elders. I hope to provide friendship in your day to day living so every day can be filled with joy and refreshment.
