My teaching experience as a Swim Teacher and Assistant Coach over the last five years, has enabled me to teach children starting with the basics, right through to the advanced competitive swimming skills. (Aged 5-18) My teaching roles have involved planning fun lessons for younger children, training sessions for competitive squads, allocating groups, and also completing relevant training plans and Award documentation.

My father’s side of the family all live within walking distance of my house, including my younger cousin who is now aged 8. Due to the large age gap I feel I have played a large part in his life, whether it be from babysitting or teaching him to walk and of course swim!

To fund my university expenditure I worked as a babysitter on a weekly basis, this involved general care of 2 children aged 4 and 8, collecting them from school, cooking their meals, assisting with homework, playing and putting them to bed. I also regularly took full responsibility for the children's care whilst their parents went away for long weekend breaks, to celebrate various occasions, great weekends were enjoyed by all! As well as this I took them swimming every week to help them with their strokes and water confidence, this was a great deal of responsibility as prior to this I did not know the family. I really enjoyed this work and was sad to leave, but I have been asked by the family to return once back in Plymouth for my final year of study.

I spent the summer of 2017 at an American Summer Camp for Girls and travelling America. At camp I was responsible for 8 girls aged 10 and 11, 4 of whom were first time campers. My role was to ensure that the girls were not only safe but happy during their 6-8 weeks at camp.

I spent 6 months on a work placement at SEK International School in Barcelona. This gave me chance to experience the Spanish culture while also being able to develop my language skills. I have also spent 4 months in a English state school where I worked with children aged 7-12.
