Dear host family,

My name is Marta, I am 23 years old and I live in Madrid with my parents. My mother's name is Teresa and she works at home, taking care of my family, and my father's name is Alfredo and he worked as a machinist in the Madrid metro, because he is currently retired. I have an older brother with the name Borja. He is 33 years old. We are a very close, sociable and communicative family. My family is big and I love it. My mother has 2 siblings, and my father has three siblings, so I have a lot of uncles, aunts and little cousins. I love children and I am the oldest along with my brother in my mother's family and the youngest in my father's family. In summer I take care of my little cousins, preparing their food, helping them with their summer homework, playing and doing crafts together or going to the pool. I've always been surrounded by children!

When I finished high school, I decided to study Early Childhood Education in Madrid, the capital of my country. For me, it was one of the most important decisions of my life. Living away from home has taught me to appreciate many things, to be much more responsible than I was before I went and to mature as a person. I think it was a very good opportunity to learn more about me. I have always been very active and hardworking, so I tried to help at home by combining my studies with different jobs while living away from home. I love working with children because they know how to get the best out of myself and I try to teach them to give the best of themselves. It's a very rewarding job.

My family and friends say that I am a very familiar, responsible and affectionate person, in addition, I love children, so this year I decided to fulfill my dream of being an au pair in the United Kingdom, a new year, new goals?. They support my decision and are very happy for me. I am delighted to have the opportunity to improve my English (since unfortunately it is not very good...) to know your lifestyle, your habits and your country, which I admire a lot. And what better way than to do what I love! I love spending time with the children and learning everything they can teach me every day. They learn a lot from us, but we learn more from them than we think. For me, it is wonderful to see them grow with us and learn, little by little, to be more independent.

I have experience in caring for children from six months to three years old, as well. In 2021/2022 I worked in a nursery school in Pozuelo (my town, where I live in Madrid). The experience was great. To all kinds of tasks, from breakfast, meals, naps, diaper change, help develop the skills that a baby of his age begins to learn, such as turning sides to explore, entertaining them with toys or helping them sleep, etc.

Afterwards, I took care of three lovely children, with whom I am currently following, I pick them up from school in the afternoons and I am with them until the night their parents are coming. They are 2/5/7 years old.

In addition to the experience in childcare, I also love reading books and newspapers every day when I have some free time, listening to the radio and watching movies, traveling and learning about other cultures and ways of life, meeting new people, talking and sharing experiences, going out with friends or preparing lunch or dinner with my family or friends as well. I like to eat healthy, cook and try new flavors, but, with it, I love making butter or chocolate cakes and cookies, brownies, cheesecakes and fruit smoothies. I find it very entertaining to teach children how to prepare desserts and fun smoothies. Even if I don't eat them later because I don't like sweets very much ?

I love playing sports!
