We want you to feel at home in our family, learn about Germany, the language and our culture, make friends and have a great time. Your tasks with us are childcare and helping with the household. With our two children, every day is a little different.
It is very important to us that we coordinate well in order to reconcile all wishes and needs as well as possible.

You should feel comfortable with small children: In addition to fun and games, this also includes changing diapers, blowing noses, tidying up, etc. We also want to go out as a couple in the evening, so you will then look after two ideally sleeping children.

In addition to childcare, our au pair will help us with the housework.
- This mainly applies to the shared rooms: the first floor (kitchen and living room) and the children's room. This mainly includes washing dishes, tidying up, vacuuming (we have a small robot that already helps) and mopping the floor.
-Our au pair feels jointly responsible for ensuring that the house is tidy and clean (as far as this is possible with two small children ;-))
- our au pair hangs up laundry and folds it when it is dry
- our au pair occasionally goes shopping (this is usually done by Daniel)
- our au pair helps with cooking or, if she wants, cooks herself

Although a six-day week is contractually agreed, weekends are usually flexible. You often have time off or just do a quick load of laundry. Sometimes we also need you at the weekend. Communication is the most important thing here. :-)

During the normal week, our au pair works slightly less than 30 hours. That's a good thing.
On the other hand, we make more use of our au pair's time when Merlin or Friedrich are ill or the kindergarten is closed. When grandma and grandpa are there, you usually have a lot less to do, as they do a lot with the children, cook and help a lot.

We talk to each other a lot and usually make a weekly plan on Sunday. Communication is very important. We also share our google calendar with you and regularly discuss long-term planning. You can also enter your long-term appointments in the calendar, e.g. when you have visitors or have plans at the weekend.

A normal day looks like this:
07:15-07:30 Wake up

Get the children ready for kindergarten and ourselves ready for work by around 08:00 or 08:15. For example, you help with breakfast for the children, brush their teeth, change Merlin's diaper or get the children dressed. If all three adults pitch in, it goes quickly :-)

approx. 08:00-08:25 one of us three adults (usually Daniel or you) take the children to kindergarten (2min walk)

08:30-12:00 you are free to organize your time when you take over the general household tasks

12:00-13:00 Lunch: Often at least one of us is working from home. Then we have lunch together. If you cook, then we are very happy, otherwise at least some preparation. Sometimes we're both in the office and eat there. Then you are free to organize your lunch (the fridge is at your disposal)

Around 15:30 the boys are picked up from kindergarten. This is usually done by Rebecca or you

15:30-17:00 (on some days shorter, sometimes until 18:15) you play with the boys

18:00-19:30 Dinner together
Afterwards, the children are put to bed and the kitchen and first floor are tidied up. Usually Daniel and/or Rebecca take over the children and clean up. Sometimes, however, the children want to go to bed with our au pair, in which case we tidy up.

At Christmas (23.12.-03.01.) you are on vacation. If you want, you can stay with us, but you can also travel home or do something completely different.

You can also invite friends or (parts of) your family. Your room is suitable for guests. The 1.40 x 2 m bed offers space for two people. Two extra mattresses can be provided by prior arrangement. However, a total of four people, including yourself, should be the maximum for a short period of time.

Our au pair receives a monthly "pocket money" of 280 euros. If our au pair comes from an EU country, no additional health insurance is normally required.
In addition, we would support a language course with up to 50 EUR per month. Maybe you can enroll at the University of Bayreuth (Attention B2 in English or German required and you have to take care of the enrollment in time already in summer 2023 - Daniel will be happy to help you). In return, we would pay the semester fees in full instead of the 50 EUR for the language course (the university also offers language courses). In addition to language courses, this would also help you to make friends and you could use public transportation for free. Your role as an au pair is clearly in the foreground. University should take place in your free time.

Our au pair can use a bicycle at any time at their own discretion.

We are interested in you, your culture, your family and your home country. We get regular visits from friends, play games together and chat.

We can also put you in touch with our current au pair or a 'former' au pair who can tell you more about their experience as an au pair with us.

Our absolute wish list is an au pair with the following qualities:

- Reliable and trustworthy
- thinks along with us and takes responsibility, e.g. thinks about what we need for the children early on when excursions are planned
- Experienced, loving and yet assertive towards children
- Intelligent, educated, curious
- Sporty with a sense for a healthy lifestyle
- Musical, culturally interested
- Organized, tidy and yet able to deal with chaos and not disgusted by a full diaper
- Socially engaged
- Hardworking
- With some knowledge of German
