The school system in Norway has an opportunity for students to pick a career they want to study for in high school. I chose to study children and youth. Through that I worked with children once a week. First I worked at a middle school along with educated teachers and staff. At that middle school, I worked with children aged 13 to 16 years old. Children with all kinds of backgrounds and challenges. I worked there for 6 months. After that I started work in a kindergarten where the youngest child was 2 years old and the oldest was turning 6 years old. I worked there for another 6 months to gain experience with children at this age as well.

For a week I was lucky enough to work at a facility that allows children of all ages with a rare disease, along with their parents, to meet others like them and learn about the disease they are hosting that week. I was there to make sure the children got to play and become friends with each other. I was also there to help them during the homework hours we would have every day where the children would bring the homework they had from their respective schools. We would be there to help them if they needed it.

I am lucky to have this experience and I would love to gain more. I would like to become an Au Pair abroad to learn more about life. I want to be an extra help to a family and to learn more about their culture and their way of life. I want to earn money while doing something I love and helping others.
