My name is Natalya Kozyr, I am the founder and the head of the agency for the selection and training of professional au-pairs.
I have been working with the Au-Pair program for 21 years and have taken part in it myself three times.
I understand how an au-pair invitation can make life easier for a family. All managers of my agency have been au-pairs and are professional in the au-pair invitation process. Our team consists of a child psychologist, a practical psychologist-mediator, a lawyer, interpreters and foreign language teachers.
We pay special attention to the preparation of future au-pairs, the formation of the necessary competencies so that they can perform their duties concerning childcare with high quality, can easily adapt in another country, and know how to prevent conflicts and misunderstandings in the family. For this purpose, all girls undergo seminars at the Au-Pair School, which include training in the following areas:
1. Childcare and child psychology: from newborn to 15 years, including the difference between boys and girls regarding physiological and psycho-emotional developmental characteristics.
2. Working with children with special needs, mental and physical disabilities (with autism, attention deficit disorder, Down syndrome).
3. Establishing contact with children so that they trust the au-pair.
4. Nutrition and feeding of the child.
5. Games (age, sports, educational, gender characteristics of children's playing activities).
6. Age crises of a child (negativism, protest reaction and self-determination, self-affirmation, stubbornness, desire to become an adult, childhood fears, child aggression, whims and tantrums, peculiarities of upbringing of brothers and sisters, teenage crisis).
7. First aid and child support during his/her illness (allergies, asthma, insect bites, cuts, injuries, burns, constipation, diarrhea, ear and eye infections, tonsillitis, flu, fever, poisoning, vomiting).
8. Effective communication (behavior in conflict and mediation; if parents get divorced; working in a single-parent family).
9. Au-pair competencies (adaptability, flexibility, discipline, initiative, sociability, planning and organization of the working day / week / month, the ability to understand the situation and make decisions, the ability to understand and follow instructions and tasks, understanding the result of work, responsibility, cooperation, stress management, the ability to work independently and in a team, keeping oneself in a "working shape", burnout prevention).
