We Are NOT an Au Pair Program
In many Western countries, the traditional au pair model often involves 40–45 working hours per week, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, and extensive childcare responsibilities. In reality, many of these programs function similarly to low-cost nanny positions.
Our program is fundamentally different.
In China, participants are not expected to cook, clean, or do household chores. You are not hired as domestic help. You are welcomed as a cultural exchange participant and language companion.
Strictly speaking, what we offer is not an au pair program, but a cultural and language exchange experience.
If you:
• Are curious about Chinese culture
• Want to learn Mandarin seriously
• Enjoy spending time with children
• Love sharing your own culture and language
Then this program is designed for you.
What You Will Do
You will:
• Spend around 30 hours per week with the host family’s children
• Play games, read books, do sports
• Communicate in English and create a natural language environment
• Occasionally join family outings or travel experiences
Your role is to build connection and provide language companionship, not to perform household labor.
What You Will Receive
Although this is not a paid job, you will receive:
• Around 2000 RMB per month as a scholarship & transportation allowance (fully sufficient for daily personal expenses in China)
• Free Mandarin classes
• Assistance with free or sponsored enrollment in Chinese universities or language schools
• A carefully matched, warm and welcoming host family
• Cultural activities and community support
• Airport pickup & orientation
• International insurance
• Visa guidance and renewal assistance
This is an opportunity to live like a local, study Chinese seriously, and immerse yourself deeply in China.
