Dear Host Family,
thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

My name is Maureen and I am 23 years old. Growing up with my family of eight and our two ponies in Rostrevor, which is a village in the north of Ireland. At the moment, I am a manager in a Caffe, and hold a BSc Honours degree in Law with a 2:1 upper division qualification .

In my spare time, I love to walk and play sports, non-competitively, with family and friends such as tennis and soccer. The last six years I was an assistant manger at a kids play/daycare centre, where I taught kids how to draw, write, colour and become creative versions of their best selves! Furthermore, I taught team sports, played with children ageing from 0-12, danced and educated children in terms of manners and respect! I am a kind, fun and caring young women who throughly enjoys working with kids, and I can say with confidence that choosing me as your Au Pair would be a decision without regret.

I also love reading, especially motivational books. One of my favorite authors is Norman Vincent Peale with his book ‘The Power of Positive Thinking’.
I would love to become your next Au Pair because I love children and enjoy spending time with them. I am prepared and I am well aware of the fact that being like a big sister for your children comes along with responsibilities for them and it will not always be just play and fun, I have experience from being the ‘mother figure’ to my three little sisters. My calm and patient personality will help me to master more difficult situations for instance when the kids are tired or don’t want to listen to me.

I expect that in the first couple of days I will be exhausted at night because I guess taking care of children the whole time can be tiring. But I am sure that I will adapt to the new tasks and daily routine quickly and become a big help for you.

Living with me is really easy as I am not a demanding person. I do respect that the house is your house and that I have follow your house rules. If something works not quite as it should, I prefer to talk instead of ignoring things.

I have travelled abroad from the age of four with my family and friends but I am used to not seeing my family as I have been in university for three years and living away from home has improved my independence, so I don’t think I will become particular home sick.
