Dear Future Host Family,

Hello! My name is Paul. I am a citizen of the United States who is looking to move abroad for a year. I am looking for work with a host family to support myself during my stay. Living with you would be a chance to explore the world with new friends. My goal is to provide support to an only child in the family. I also intend to make myself useful beyond child support. I am honored to provide you with my skills if I interest you.

I remember the first time I traveled to another country. I visited Finland for winter vacation in December of 2023. The food was great, and the landscapes were beautiful. It was easy to get around on foot or transit. The best part was meeting new people. I participated in group tours, so I was never alone on my travels. I would love to travel again, but I still prefer not to be alone. Traveling together is something I would enjoy with you as I know your child would.

I have been an only child my whole life. Throughout most of my childhood, I was often lonely. I understand how it must feel for a child to be on their own in the family. I would be happy to provide emotional support to a fellow only child. I have experience being a buddy to younger children in school, especially to kids with special needs. I am kind and friendly with most children I come across.

Helping other people, especially children, creates great joy for me. I often encounter children at my job in a grocery store. I spoil them with stickers and lollipops, provided by the store, so long as they are well-behaved. I am not a father, but I can assist with childcare. I can take the child to and from school. I can help with homework, although I may need a copy of the child’s language homework so we can learn together. My first priority, though, is ensuring the parents and child are safe around me.

I can help with most household needs expected of any tenant. I can clean around the house if you can provide the tools, such as a vacuum cleaner or cleaning spray. I do not have a driver’s license, but I have a great sense of direction for getting around and planning routes. If there are other tasks you need help with, let us communicate so we can plan together.

I would love to work with you to bring my presence to your home. I want you to know I will be fun, caring but most of all useful. Let us meet so we can discuss living together.
