List do rodziny
Dear future host family,
My name is Noélie, I'm 19 years old and I'm originally from Luxembourg, a small country in Western Europe. I have gained a lot of experience in childcare thanks to volunteering at the Luxembourgish Youth Red Cross as a summer camp/colony monitor for various age groups (3-15 y/o). I've always loved and enjoyed spending time with kids, and I am extremely patient and adapt to their needs. I've also supervised and worked with kids with special needs, such as physical and mental disabilities, as well as neurodivergences. I personally believe in authoritative parenting, as it combines the warmth and understanding of gentle parenting with the structure and boundaries of strict parenting. If you have a different parenting style, I am more than willing to adapt to your preferences.
A huge part of my life is track and field, which I started at the age of 7. Although I am no longer part of an official club, I still run and jog in my spare time, as it relieves my stress and gives me comfort. I believe that being athletic can help put the mind at ease.
I started being a vegetarian in 2018 at the age of 12, as a result of understanding the animal cruelty behind the meat industry. However, if your family is not vegetarian, I am happy to prepare meals that include any type of meat. I don't push my beliefs onto anyone and accept diverse beliefs, which is a result of Luxembourg being a very multicultural country and me, therefore, growing up in a very diverse setting.
After my gap year as an Au Pair/Nanny, I would want to pursue my dream of studying medicine, specifically to become a neurosurgeon. I would love to complete my studies in Vienna.
I want to become an Au Pair or Nanny because I love being with and working with children. Since children typically have flexible schedules due to school and after-school activities, being their Au Pair/Nanny would allow me to study, travel, and meet new people while working. I specifically would like to be an Au Pair in New Zealand or Sweden so that I can learn and understand those countries' cultures which really intrigue me. For instance, I would love to learn about the Maori history, language and art, and even participate in cultural events if present. New Zealand is also known for its wonderful landscapes and nature which I would love to explore, so that I can experience the breathtaking landscapes firsthand! In Sweden, I am eager to experience traditions like Midsummer and the concept of "lagom," which emphasizes balance and moderation. I've learned about Sweden's ""Allemansrätten", and as nearly 70% of the country is covered in forests, as a nature lover, I would benefit from this freedom to roam nature. I would also love to experience the Swedish Northern Lights!
I believe you should host me because I am very patient with children, I am a good listener and take direction well, which means I can adapt to various situations. I'm typically very organized and follow schedules effectively. For instance, as previously mentioned, I volunteered as a summer camp/colony monitor at the Red Cross, which means that I had to prepare games for the children, or follow orders as requested by the colony manager(s), as well as overseeing bedtime routines, and generally spending time with the children. I'm also very proactive and have a stable self-initiative. Having two working parents, I also grew up doing chores around the house, such as cleaning the dishes, tidying up the house, walking and taking care of the household pets or even going on a grocery run. I love to cook, and my personal comfort food and specialty (according to my best friend) is gnocchi with gravy sauce. Apart from cooking, I really enjoy baking for others, as baked goods taste and smell good, and the process of creating them is comforting, especially when you know that others are about to enjoy freshly baked goods!
As previously mentioned, I can cook and clean, have experience with children, and am highly adaptable, qualifying me for the role of your new Au Pair or Nanny.
I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to become a part of your family as an Au Pair. I believe that my passion for childcare, ability to adapt, and eagerness to learn will make for a rewarding experience for both me and your children. Thank you for considering my application; I look forward to the possibility of contributing to your family while immersing myself in the wonderful culture of both Sweden or New Zealand.
Yours truly,
Noélie :)
