Hello dear family,

I am Leisdy from Mexico, and I’m 28 years old.

Five years ago, before coming to China in 2019, I was already working as a Primary ESL teacher for a year and a half, teaching students aged nine to twelve. In February of 2019, I decided to come to China as an au pair and live-in tutor. I cared for a 4-year-old boy, and although it was challenging at first, we eventually formed a strong bond. I taught him to read short stories and introduced him to basic Spanish vocabulary. I also accompanied him to various activities and events. I returned to Mexico in November 2019.

Afterward, I worked as a receptionist for three months. Then in February 2020, I joined a private secondary and high school as an ESL teacher. When that semester ended, I rejoined the primary school where I had previously worked, and they assigned me to their high school section as well. I continued teaching there for two more years until 2022.

In 2021, I began working at a language center, where I have been part of their online teaching program since then. During this time, I also earned a TKT Cambridge certificate in Module 1. In 2022, I started teaching at a public high school, where I worked with 11th and 12th-grade students as an English teacher. However, I decided to leave in January 2024 when the semester ended, as I had joined an IB primary school in June 2023, and the school required more time for activities and certification courses.

In March of this year, I had the opportunity to return to China as an au pair, which was something I had been looking forward to. After discussing it with my coordinator and completing the school year online, I decided to take the opportunity and came back to China at the beginning of April.

I come from a close-knit family, and I have a 9-year-old sister whom I help regularly with her schoolwork. I also assist my dad and step-mom by taking her to her extracurricular activities, such as swimming and arts. Spending time with her has not only allowed me to play a supportive role in her education, but also helped me develop strong skills in child care and time management. Additionally, I have a 22-year-old sister with whom I am very close. We often spend time together, going out for dinner, enjoying movies, and sharing experiences that strengthen our bond. Our family’s dynamic has taught me the value of patience, teamwork, and the importance of nurturing relationships, all of which I hope to bring into my role as an au pair.

In addition to my passion for teaching and childcare, I love staying active. During secondary and high school, I was part of the football soccer team, and I also competed on a swimming team. Swimming continues to be a big part of my life, and I enjoy it regularly at home since we have a pool and a beach house.
