Dear host family,

My name is Maria and I am a 21 year old soon-to-be Primary teacher. I am graduating from university in spring of 2025 and taking some time to travel before I start working. I am from Scotland and I have one older brother.

I would love to be an Au Pair because I have always loved to travel and experience new cultures, and working with children is such a huge part of who I am. I have been working with children for as long as I can remember. From babysitting and volunteering, to working in nurseries, living and working with children for 14 weeks in a summer camp on the other side of the world for two summers, to teaching 30+ children every day, I have never found an instance where working with children is anything short of brilliant fun every day. That is why I would love to be an Au Pair, I know how much fun children are and I love to explore the world. Getting time to spend with a small group of children to really know them and have fun with them, whilst also exploring somewhere new, both on my own and with the children, would be a dream come true.

I am a very competent cook, I am a teacher so I have professional knowledge of how to teach the English language and maths to children, I love to turn activities into learning experiences, I can drive a manual, I am very hardworking and I am always enthusiastic about trying new things. I consider myself to be patient, kind, and understanding.

I am looking forward to experiencing new things, I think that to be fully immersed in a culture and language is the best way to experience it. I am also looking forward to living somewhere new and exploring new places whilst living there. I have always loved languages and wrote my dissertation on it so I would also really love to be fully immersed and improve those skills, and have to depend on my own language abilities out in public, even if it is very tricky at first.

My plans for the future are to return to Scotland at some point and to continue my teaching career as Primary School teacher, after having taken a break for some adventure!
