Hello!

My name is Reese and I'm 24 years old. I'm Australian, originally from Newcastle in New South Wales and I currently live in a small town in NSW. I am a friendly, ambitious, independent person.

Most of my family lives in Newcastle. My mum is a primary school teacher and is very passionate about her job. My older brother, Jared, is my only sibling. He is 27 and is preparing to welcome his son with his partner, Olivia, in September.

I returned back to Australia from London, England, due to COVID-19 in 2020. I was there for 9 months from July 2019 on a working holiday visa. I lived in a house with 6 other Australians and worked as a teaching assistant in one of the top Catholic schools in the UK. It was an experience of a lifetime that was unfortunately cut short. This has made me decide that I would like be an au pair.

As an au pair, I would like to gain some cultural insight and learn a language, to travel and most importantly become a big sister for a family. Although my experience living and working in the UK changed my life, I believe becoming an au pair is a unique opportunity. The only language I can speak is English but I am eager to learn a new one.

I believe that working with children is one of the most rewarding experiences. As mentioned, when I was in London, I worked as a Teaching Assistant. I was based in a 4th Grade classroom, where the students are aged between 8 to 9. I also assisted in a 5th Grade classroom 2 afternoons a week. My main focus in the classroom was supporting the students to achieve, complete classwork and monitor homework. I worked very close with the students of a lower ability and special educational needs. I also supported the classroom teacher, doing anything I was asked to help form photocopying/laminating to preparing and decorating classroom displays. I supervised students in the classroom, playground, assembly and on excursions. My organisational skills came into use when filing worksheets into students folders and preparing and cleaning up resources for activities. After I helped dismiss students to their parents, I then participated in the After School Club every afternoon. There were approximately 50 students in total from the ages of 4-11. I supervised students during snack time, cleaned the meal area, assisted students with their homework and playing games with them. I also helped with students first aid. This was a job I extremely enjoyed. I didn't have any childcare experience before this job and it has definitely made interested to pursue a career in childcare once I decide to stop travelling as much. I think this experience can help me while being an au pair from supporting and enjoying time with the child(ren) to helping around the house with light housework.

I am a very easy going person and enjoy the simple things in life. I love all things creative, especially drawing/painting and reading. I played netball as a sport all of my childhood. My Mum loves walking/hiking so when we are together we like to find and try out a new track every time. I love spending time with my friends and family. I also very much love travelling. My first trip to Europe was just to Italy when I was 16 for a school trip. I was studying Pompeii and Herculaneum for Ancient History and was lucky enough to visit to help my studies. We also went to Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan. I returned to Europe when I was 18 and travelled with a friend to places such as London, Paris, Rome, Florence, Vienna, Budapest, Prague and Amsterdam. I have since been back on holiday to Europe in 2022 and 2023. While I was living in the UK, I was lucky enough to visit Amsterdam again, as well as Copenhagen and Stockholm. It was so unfortunate that I couldn't do the trips I had planned because of COVID-19. Hopefully my time as an au pair will allow me to complete those.

I'm looking for a host family that would be happy to have me for 10-12 months. I ideally would like to look after children between the ages of 3 to 16. I am flexible with what time/how long I'll be working for.
