Kia Ora!

My name is Sanda and I’m born and raised in New Zealand- we call ourselves’ Kiwis’ like our national animal, but also like the fruit!

I am Cambodian-Chinese, and can fluently understand Khmer but cannot read or write it- something I’m working on! English is my native language, but I love languages and have been self studying Russian and Japanese!

I really want to be an au pair because, as cliché as it is, I want to travel and experience what it’s like to live in different cultures and countries! I love history and want to visit a plethora of National parks, heritage sites, museums, and art galleries. Further, I want to live out my childhood dreams of being a Vaganov ballerina. I also want to be able to be a polyglot, and the best way to do that is through immersion.

I am currently on a break from studying my BA in Archaeology, Anthropology, Religious studies, and the science of religion. My dream is to be an Archaeologist- very fashionable one at that.

I think I am a very strong candidate, as I’m skilled in a field of different areas! I’m polite, outgoing and yet also maintain a healthy balance of keeping to myself. I’m good around the house and have been told I am a great cook and baker.

I believe I am qualified as I, though haven’t worked professionally with kids, have experience as a support worker for private families with intellectual disabilities. I believe these roles are very much in the same realm and overlap. My roles in this field are all too similar to being an Au pair, as I also worked overnight shifts. I’m very proactive, intuitive, and flexible! I’m also a very fast learner.

I’ve always grown up around children and was the family babysitter- always looking after my cousins whilst my family was away. Further, I’m so lucky to now have a little baby brother who I’ve helped raise with my mother who is a single mother. So basically I am the father, but fortunately he does not call me that <3
