My first au pair job was in Turin, Italy caring for two twin boys that were 5 years old. Twins are a challenge but I grew to master it! We had a great time together and me and the family got on very well.
Some of my duties included:
Getting them up and ready for school in the morning, making sure they were washed, fed, dressed and in school on time
Picking them up from school with snacks and sometimes taking them to after school activities, taking them home where I would care for them, feed them, play with them and make sure they were safe and behaving
Helping them improve their English, I am very proud of them as they really progressed during my stay with them
Eat dinner with them and get them washed, dressed and ready for bed
I also completed tasks that my host parents asked me to such as groceries, washing clothes, hoovering, decorating the house for Halloween, making beds, taking the children to the opticians and doctors, etc.

I also au paired in Bordeaux, France with two young girls aged 5 & 8. We got on so well it was just like they were my sisters and they were sad to see me leave. Here, I had very similar tasks as my previous role in Italy.

After, I was an au pair for a lovely Dutch family living in Cyprus. They treated me like a family member and I got along so well with the children, that they were proud to refer to me as their older sister to people we met in public! I had many duties with the children, who are aged 10 & 13. I would start in the afternoon, pick them up from school and take them to various activities. On days we didn't have activities we would stay at home and play various games, play in the pool, do crafts and build things with cardboard, play piano, paint, walk around the neighbourhood, they were very chatty & easy going kids and we had a lot of fun together. Some evenings the parents would go out and I would cook dinner and take the children to bed.

During summer 2023 I was an au pair in Barcelona, Spain for a very kind family. The children were 9 & 11 years old and with it being the summer, my duties were a lot more relaxed. We had a lot of fun, I would take them to the local pool, we had walks & bike rides around the town, we played in the garden a lot. We crafted, played lots of board games and read books, I also taught them how to crochet.

I have classroom experience in a local primary school with children across all ages; although the majority of my time was spent in a year 1 class with six year olds, I am very confident with children of all ages and even teenagers. I don't find it difficult to be responsive to each individual child's needs when working with them, as I know every child is different and may require a different approach. My main role was to support them with their reading and help them progress in their writing, I also ensured they had a comfortable, safe and supportive learning environment.

Growing up I have always been the eldest sibling, the eldest cousin and the person that parents in the neighbourhood would always go to for childcare. This has given me lots of babysitting experience across my town and within my family, across all ages.
