Hello! I hope you are well! I am twenty-one years old and I have just graduated from the University of Edinburgh where I studied Politics (MA) for four years. It was a wonderful four years which for me, the highlight was immersing myself in such a beautiful city and slowly calling it home. Currently, I am working as a waitress in a French fine dining restaurant and taking the time to consider what my next adventure will be! My hobbies include running as well as sewing and non-fictional reading. I enjoy designing my own clothes, reading the history of specific fashion movements and designers as well as reading about various philosophers and their approach to life.

The primary reason that I would like to be an au pair is that I love being around other individuals, getting to know them and speaking to them. As a waitress I enjoy getting to know my customers, hearing about their days and their occupations. Being an au pair specifically would be a wonderful opportunity to connect to a family and the children, supporting their needs with the hope that I help the family to function more smoothly. I would be excited to support a family and the children, making the children's day even brighter and help them to have all the fun they desire and many opportunities to engage in the things that make them happiest!

I believe that I should be hosted because I have so many positive assets. As well as my experience working with people and children, I am a naturally up-beat, enthusiastic and confident person. I love to chat to other individuals and I believe that everyday is an opportunity to have fun and reinforce how wonderful life can be! As well as this, after studying French for four years in the recent past, I have formed a strong appreciation for the culture, language and country as well as an interest in exploring it first hand. So, the host would be gifting me an experience I have desired for a long time and I will be reliably excited and enthusiastic to fulfil my role to the highest of standards as I will be so grateful for the opportunity.

As mentioned, I believe I am qualified for this role because of my enthusiastic, loving and passionate character as well as my loving, kind and friendly qualities. As well as this, I have frequent and valuable experience working with children. Since I was fifteen years old, I have filled roles such as the leader of girl-guiding groups, I have been a tutor for children aged ten who struggle with dyslexia and I have frequently babysat children aged one to eight. In these roles, I have acquired knowledge on how best to manage children and tailor my interactions to children's needs. I have also gained knowledge on how varied children's needs are. As a leader of a girl-guiding group, I gained experience of how to create engaging activities which were stimulating, educational and enjoyable for children aged seven to eleven. In this circumstance, I also developed my confidence in managing larger groups of children who could be often overly excited and extremely energetic. This allowed for the development of my communication skills with children as well as patience and the knowledge that being calm is very important! In my roe as a tutor I was met with many challenges such as adapting educational activities to children with more specific educational requirements which differed from the style in which I myself learned as a child. In this role, I realized the importance of tailoring approaches to that specific child as well as the importance of listening to the child and trusting their knowledge of their own needs. As a babysitter, I exercised this knowledge and gained more practical skills such as cooking for the children, how to approach bedtimes as well as tidying up! In every role I felt how fun it is to work with children and what a joy they are to be around!
