Dear au pair family,

My name is April, I am 21 years old and I am from the United Kingdom. I graduated from university in June 2023, I have a degree in English Language, Linguistics and TESOL and I am currently working as a teaching assistant in a primary school (ages between 5-11 years). I love traveling, exploring and reading. I enjoy immersing myself into different cultures, I’ve travelled frequently to Denmark, and I’ve been to Amsterdam, and Canada too, when I was young.

I want to become an au pair to experience a different culture and a different country, whilst also having a secure support system and structured environment. To be an au pair would broaden my experience with children in a professional manner, and it would also create meaningful relationships and connections across the globe. In addition to that, I would be able to enhance my personal growth by stepping outside my comfort zone through navigating new situations and growing my self-resilience.

I’d love to be with a host family based in either Canada or Australia. I chose these places in particular because they’re far away from home, which means I’ll develop my independence and explore new situations within a different country. If you decide to choose me as your au pair, I would arrive with positivity, a hard work ethic, creativity, respect, trustworthiness, flexibility and adaptability. I’d be open to meeting new people and building relationships with the family, and enhance my skills overall.

Since working in a primary school, I have professional experience with working with children of a variety of ages, I have also worked with special needs children whilst being a teaching assistant. I am capable of building relationships with both children and adults, whether this be professional or informal relationships, my friendly and welcoming personality is the reason why I am highly skilled in this area.
