Hello there,

My name is Carolina, and I’m a 23 year old novel author who also loves kids.

I have a big family with several younger cousins that I have been looking after for years, and more recently I’ve been taking care of my friend’s children as well. I discovered I love spending time with them and getting to know the very unique ways they have of seeing things. As I am very young and want to travel the world, I decided to become an Au Pair and Nanny, so that I can be with kids and learn from them as I travel.

It would not be my first experience with a host family: I was hosted by a lovely couple in England back when I was studying English. I loved the experience of getting to know a new culture in such an immersive way and will be forever grateful, which I why I would love to be hosted again, this time as an Au Pair. I’ve always been told I have endless patience, which is good for kids, but personally I love looking after them because of how curious and fun they are. Sometimes, they just need to be listened to.

My experience in childcare dates back to when I was around 14 years old, and I started looking after my little cousins Joaquín and Rolo. Joaquín was in primary school, but Rolo was just a baby, and I’ve been his nanny ever since. I also took care of my sister-in-law’s two babies for five years, from a very early age until they started preschool. More recently, I’ve started looking after Benjamín, my best friend’s son, who just turned 1. These kids have all been very different and I’ve learnt from all of them. I found that some of my most interesting and crazy conversations have been with toddlers, and I loved it.

I believe someone truly qualifies for a position when the job they would be doing is one the would make them happy, because that is when people really work to the best of their abilities. This is my case: I love kids and I love traveling and discovering new places and cultures, and this is the job that would give me both. I actually think I would thrive, and that I would do my very best for the kids to thrive too.

Experiência com crianças

I have been a nanny in my family since I was 14, and I am now 23, so almost 10 years. I first started with my cousins, Joaquín and Rolo, and sometimes Julieta. For a few years, I picked them up from school and took care of them and their activities until their parents came home in the evening. Specially with Rolo, who was just a baby. I still take him to school and look after him afterwards.

When I was a little older, around 17 years old, I became the nanny of my sisters-in-law’s babies: first, Valentina, a one year old girl, and later on, Ramiro, a newborn little boy. This was my first experience looking after non blood-relative kids, and it was honestly great. The newborn was a learning journey but I enjoyed the challenge and the love altogether. I looked after these kids for five years, as their parents both worked full time jobs then.

Currently, I am the nanny of little Benja, my best friend’s one and a half year old. I take him to kindergarten and pick him up, and I spend the afternoon with him learning letters and numbers as we play. Being a bit older myself, I now know a lot more about kids than when I was a teen. Every child is different and will need different things, and no matter how many years of experience I have, I know for sure there is always something new to learn.

I would like to become an Au Pair & Nanny abroad so I can travel the world while still looking after tiny humans. I am an English teacher and a Literature major, and I always try to teach my kids a little English and also to inspire them to read and enjoy books. My love for traveling goes across all my other passions: when I learn languages, when I write my stories, when I read, when I meet new people, I’m always thinking of new corners of the world to do these things. I have traveled alone and met amazing people, and I would be thrilled to have the experience of living in a new country completely different to mine. Being an Au Pair abroad is exactly what I would need for this stage of my life. I would be fulfilled.
