Dear Host Family,

My name is Octavia, and I’m a friendly, responsible, and active person from England. I’ve recently returned from an incredible four-month journey through South Africa and Asia, where I took part in conservation work, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, and explored different cultures. I’m also passionate about sport, especially triathlons, and love staying active and outdoors. Before this I was working in Finance in London but am looking to make a career change and potentially try to relocate to Barcelona.

I’m excited to become an Au Pair and Live-in Tutor in Spain because I’m eager to improve my Spanish and experience life as part of a local family. I believe language is best learned through immersion, and being around children in a warm, everyday environment is a perfect way to do that. I also genuinely enjoy working with children — I’ve spent time babysitting, and I worked for a couple years as a math tutor, often supporting children with special educational needs. Those experiences taught me patience, empathy, and how to make learning fun and engaging. During my recent travels in South Africa, I worked for a foundation supporting the local community which involved helping out with the local children, playing sports with them, helping run the local soup kitchen for the children and helping with arts and crafts.

You should consider hosting me because I bring enthusiasm, maturity, and a genuine love for children. I’ll happily get involved with the kids' routines, play games, help with homework, or share my love of sports and outdoor activities. I also understand the importance of responsibility when living in someone else’s home — I’m tidy, respectful, and always happy to help out where needed.

I believe I’m well qualified for this position because of my childcare and tutoring background, my positive and adaptable personality, and my strong motivation to learn and contribute. I’m used to working in different environments, from classrooms to international volunteer projects, and I always bring a cheerful and can-do attitude.
