Dear Families,

My name is Leah, and I’m from Richmond, Virginia—a small, lively city in the United States. I am 19 years old and have just completed my first year studying Biological Engineering at university.

I am applying to become an Au Pair and Nanny because of my deep love for children and my strong desire to experience life abroad. This past summer, I worked as a camp counselor on a lake in Pennsylvania, where I had the privilege of working closely with children of various ages. Their kindness, curiosity, and creativity deeply inspired me, and I realized how much joy I find in supporting their growth and simply being a part of their world.

At the same time, I have always dreamed of immersing myself in a new culture. Having lived in the same city my whole life, I’m excited for the opportunity to broaden my perspective, adapt to a different way of life, and make meaningful connections with people from around the world. I am extremely flexible and embrace change wholeheartedly—qualities that I believe are essential when stepping into a new environment and supporting a new family. Being with people, hearing their stories, and sharing experiences is something I truly enjoy.

I believe I would be a wonderful addition to your family for several reasons. I offer a strong background in childcare—from tutoring and babysitting to leading groups as a summer camp counselor. These experiences have taught me patience, creativity, and how to navigate conflict in a calm and supportive way. Outside of childcare, I work as an outdoor adventure guide, leading kayaking and paddleboarding trips. These roles have helped me become a reliable, responsible team player who remains calm under pressure and knows how to make others feel safe and supported.

What truly motivates me is building trust and lasting relationships. I don’t take the responsibility of caring for a child lightly—your child’s well-being and safety are my highest priorities, and I am honored by the possibility of being entrusted with that care. I hope to not only support your child’s needs but also become a positive role model and friend in their life.

Expériences en garde d'enfants

While I have not yet worked as an Au Pair, I have extensive experience caring for and mentoring children as a camp counselor. Since middle school, I’ve volunteered at summer camps for one to two weeks at a time, but this summer, I stepped into a full-time role in Pennsylvania. I am currently living in a cabin with ten amazing and sweet girls, along with a co-counselor, caring for them day and night. I guide, support, and build close relationships with each of them, offering both structure and friendship.
In addition to living with and mentoring these girls, I also facilitate daily activities for the entire camp, working with children ages 9 to 17. From arts and crafts to outdoor adventures and evening devotionals, I’ve learned how to lead, connect with, and care for each child in a thoughtful and personal way. This experience has been truly life-changing, it’s shown me how fulfilling it is to be a mentor, a support system, and a joyful presence in a child’s life.
I want to become an Au Pair abroad because of my deep love for working with children and my passion for cultural exchange. Children inspire me with their creative and curious minds, their honesty, and the way they view the world with such openness and wonder. Their kindness and emotional insight remind me of the beauty in simplicity and the value of genuine connection, things that are often forgotten as we grow older.
I’m also drawn to the adventure of living abroad. I want to be immersed in a new culture, learn different ways of thinking, and experience both the joys and challenges of life outside my familiar environment. I believe stepping into someone else’s world—while caring for their children, is a powerful and meaningful way to grow, serve, and connect.
