We are a (relatively) young Irish family with two young children, living in suburban Melbourne. We are an experienced Au pair host family and are commencing our search for May 24 as our current au pair who has been with us for 12 months embarks on her next adventure.
Our “babies”, Patrick who is 4yo and Fiadh 20 months love playing, exploring the great outdoors, make believe fun, activities, reading, playgrounds, cooking etc. They are in a super routine - pretty much consisting of eat, play, sleep repeat - very happy kids and generally quite easy going. There’s a heavy degree of bias in that comment but they are push button babies who thrive on routine and love.
As a family we love a healthy lifestyle, great food and wine, travelling, learning, activities, games, visiting new places. We love time together as a family, but equally appreciate the importance of alone time!
I am keen to provide a little support where I can during the days where I am able to work from home. We live in leafy suburbia with lots of green space within walking distance, St Kilda a 10 min tram away and the city a 15 minute train.
I am extremely active, my husband a golfer ?️‍♀️ and both are sport nuts ? We live a very quiet family life school nights and are quite social or as social as one can be with two “babies” at the weekend. Patrick attends Kinder three days a week, Fiadh at home full time.
Support in the home would be required - cooking, laundry, tidying but NO iRONING - we’re a strictly no ironing household!!
We are environmentally conscious and so that’s quite important we can align. Our community mostly Irish ☘️ so lots of fun and very much living an expat life. Aligned values we think really important in guaranteeing the success of someone coming into our home - honest, hard working, fun loving, kind and compassionate values we live by!!!

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal au pair is happy, kind, positive, patient, easy-going, fun, hardworking, reliable and responsible with a can-do attitude. Most importantly, they love and are confident with small kiddies, keeping them entertained and are passionate about playing and learning. They are happy to help out around the house and can keep a house clean and tidy!

Hours will be pretty repeatable, Monday to Friday during office hours (8.30 - 5) with flexibility important if required. Note kids naps range from 1-2 hours during the day. Out of home working will be supported (lots of fun opportunities locally based on our past au pairs experience) we only ask that it does not interfere with family life. There may be a rare need for some “babysitting” but always with advance notice.
