Dear host family. My name is Tamia. I’m born on the 4th of February 2003. I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since I was in high school, I knew that I wanted to become an Au Pair. Growing up I always loved kids and I told my parents I would have 10 kids when I’m older. I come from a very loving and caring family. My parents are always willing to help. They love having family and friends over. We are very entertaining when we have family and friends over. My dad is the bread winner. He is in HR and payroll. My mom is a stay at home mom. My brother stays in Durban and he is a IT technician. The children that I took care of were such amazing and well behaved kids. I could be having a bad day and they will always do something to change my day. The very first kid I took care of was a small boy by the name of Blueface. He use to stay in my complex. His brother and I became friends at first, eventually Blueface would love to spend time with me. He use to tell everyone that I’m his girlfriend. Before he would come to my house he would pick flowers for me and surprise me. I use to play with him, make him sleep and sometimes even cook breakfast or lunch for him. I loved to take care of him that I even stayed over at his house a few times and he stayed over by me. He moved out of the complex but I still saw him every weekend and spent time with him. At that time his mom was pregnant so I would always give her a helping hand with him. Once his brother was born I use to take care of his little brother. I use to bath him, make him bottles, make him sleep and play with him. I use to try and be there every weekend but unfortunately they moved far away from me and I couldn’t take care of them anymore. Then I met Zoe, she moved into my complex above me. Zoe’s mom didn’t have time to bring her outside…so once a week I would bring her outside to play and teach her,her colours. I’m currently at a pre-school volunteering to get more experience and I plan on being there till I get a host family. I started there in December 2022 and I absolutely love it. I assist a teacher at the school and we do activities together like colouring in, drawing and painting. We do counting, months of the year and shapes. I also read to them when they get bored. These kids are 4-5 year olds. My goals in the future is to become a pre-school teacher with a qualification. My dream will be to open a pre-school. My hobbies are to cook, bake, watch soccer and play Fortnite. I started cooking from age 13 and I learnt a lot over the years. I never use to bake till I started high school. My favorite dessert to make is peppermint tart and my favorite dish is butter chicken. My favorite soccer team is man united. I like playing cards and board games. I’m very interested to live in The Netherlands because I learnt about it in Tourism. I’m also very excited to learn about the culture, try some cultural food and learn about my host family. The reason I wanted to become an au pair is because I love taking care of kids and exploring new places. I hope to gain more experience that will push me to follow my dream of opening a pre-school.
