My experience was a blend of caregiving, education, and companionship. My nursing background allowed me to provide attentive care to the children. I monitored their health, administered first aid when needed, and ensured their safety. Whether it was a scraped knee or a minor illness, I was there to soothe their discomfort and offer reassurance. My nursing knowledge became a comforting balm for their little hurts.
Every day was a learning adventure for both of us. I engaged them in educational activities, from reading colourful picture books to teaching basic math concepts using play objects. We explored the world together with our short walks in the neighbourhood and answering thousand questions in a minute. Sometimes, we visited playgrounds, and I cherished those moments, the uninhibited joy of childhood and the pure delight in simple games.
Mealtime was more than nourishment. I mostly prepared wholesome meals with mum together and we all ate together for dinner. Aside that, I prepared breakfast and fed them. I also loved bringing them fruits on my way back from work.
