Hi, my name is Maiela. I am a twenty-one-year-old girl looking for a new and challenging experience. I have been working as an assistant teacher at two different Forest Schools, kindergarten and preschool, for the past three years in the US. I am eager to continue my work with young children in a different format. I grew up attending a Waldorf school and have felt the impact of my unique education as I've become aware of the wider world. The forest school pedagogy has called to me strongly as it is structured to be child-led, with an emphasis on one's relationship to the natural world, healthy risk, and respecting each child completely by providing unconditional positive regard. Those values are things that I would prioritize and strive to maintain in this position.
I feel that I've gotten a wonderful but privileged and narrow view of the world thus far and know that I need to expand my experiences to keep doing meaningful work. This position would be a step in the direction of independence and self-confidence while doing something I know I love, spending time with sweet, growing children. I'm hoping to further my limited knowledge of the Spanish language and expand my world familiarity and compassion by immersion.
