I'm a 21-year-old Catalan who finished my high school studies in June 2023, and since then, I've always wanted to open new doors. A few weeks after finishing my exams, I embarked on an individual ESC volunteer project in Ankara, Turkey. It was supposed to last a couple of months, but in the end, because the experience was so good, I spent as much time as I could, ultimately ending up with nine and a half months. After that, I volunteered for another month in Gdańsk, Poland, this time as an ESC team volunteer. The activities I carried out there were somewhat different between the two projects, but they both shared the same idea: working with children and local people, primarily in English. In Turkey, my main activities involved going to primary schools to help teachers, where I mainly worked with groups between seven and nine years old. Our task was to help them speak and learn English, but over time, I also tried to explore Turkish with them to deepen our mutual understanding. Along with this, we also went to tennis clubs every weekend to help the coaches and the children again. The majority of the children were 10 years old, although some were 3 or 14. There, I was able to learn how to participate in sports activities alongside children, which I loved.
As for the experience in Poland, because it was shorter, the schedule was tighter. For a few days, we prepared activities and workshops to present at various primary and secondary schools and then visited them for two weeks. The activities were very well-received by the students at the schools, thanks to the work provided by my two French colleagues and me. Our activities focused on sports and exercise, which greatly encouraged the young people. Once it was over, we made some preparations for an international event (the Hanseatic League Days) and a local event (the Seniors' Parade), allowing me to develop in both a European and local Polish environment. Simply unique and unforgettable experiences.
After these activities, I entered the world of work here in Spain, where I worked for a month as a kitchen assistant at KFC and later as a baker's assistant in a bakery for six months.
Currently, I have been caring for my elderly loved ones as they have gone through difficult health situations.
I am a curious person, open to learning about new topics, languages, and cultures. I love history, philosophy, poetry (which I sometimes write), geopolitics, and the military. I am currently a native speaker of Catalan and Spanish. I am very fluent in English, and speak a fair amount of French, although I lack confidence in it. I speak some Turkish (although over time, due to lack of use, I am forgetting it), and I recently started learning German. I've been practicing taekwondo for almost eight years, achieving a brown belt, and I was waiting for my teacher's approval to evaluate me for a black belt, or, in my case at the time, being younger than sixteen, a black red belt. I'm a quiet, calm boy who values time alone with himself and time spent with friends and loved ones. I like to be as clean and tidy as possible, especially with my space.
I would like to be an Au Pair so I can continue developing my English skills and learn or improve the local language wherever I go. I would like to be able to experience the culture and traditions, the values, and the people in a way that is as direct as a local home, and I would also be able to support the needs of those who host me. Given the opportunity, I would give my all to create a beautiful relationship between the family and me that will last beyond the time we spend with this Au Pair.
