Dear Host Family

Hope you are doing well.
My name is Simelokuhle (Melo). I am a 23 year old born in Zimbabwe. I grew up with my sister and 3 cousins who I consider my brothers and sisters because they were there the moment I opened my eyes. We grew up in a loving household with my mom who worked as a nurse and did her best to provide for us.

I would describe myself as a reliable, honest and caring person, who is always there for someone if needed. I am a hardworking and ambitious person. Once I set my mind on something, I will not give up until I get to complete the task at hand.

Why I want to be an Au-pair? Though I've always wanted to travel the world, meet new people and learn new cultures and different ways people do things, I enjoy being around children as they bring so much joy on some dull days. They have this thing that just melts a heart and make me feel better. My sister is another reason I'm pushing to become an Au-pair because she told me what a great time she had with her host family and kids. How much fun she had as an Au-pair. So to get to see the world outside of the one i grew up in while gaining a new family seems to be a big bonus.
For the past years, I have taken care of children of all ages- newborn to thirteen- from different families and my own. From my sisters’ children, to my neighbours kids and family friends kids. When my cousin was busy with her studies towards teaching, I took care of her children by getting them ready for school, making them breakfast and their lunch, walking them to school, etc. Helped a couple family and family friends with their newborn babies. I have learnt how fun it is to have children around. They somehow teach us a lot without us realizing.

I like to believe I can cook pretty well and love learning how to make a new dish. i enjoy the "challenge" that comes with doing something new. I very much enjoy as well baking when I have time. Keeping my space tidy is also very important to me. I grew up in a household where cleaning was a daily thing so I still carry that wifth me and make sure my space and shared surroundings are neat and tidy for the next person.
I can help with homework as I have helped my nephews with their homework a lot.
