Hi! I'm Erika :)
I'm really excited at the idea of becoming an au pair and getting to know a new family in a different part of the world. I've always loved working with kids and, over the years, I’ve had several experiences—both in educational and fun, playful settings—that have helped me feel comfortable and confident around children of all ages.
This past summer I worked as a socio-educational animator, organising games, creative workshops and sports for kids between 6 and 14 years old. It really taught me how to manage groups, keep things organised and, most importantly, how to connect with children in a way that makes them feel seen and involved.
I also work as a private tutor for middle and high school students. I love helping them feel more confident in their studies—it’s really rewarding to see them make progress and feel proud of themselves.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, learning new languages, and exploring new places. I’m also quite into nature and staying active, so I love going for walks whenever I can. I used to swim competitively for 12 years—I actually started when I was just two and a half! I also learned to ride a bike when I was little and really enjoy cycling, even though in Rome it’s not always easy with the traffic and the poor bike lane situation. That’s one of the reasons I’d love to live somewhere where cycling is a normal, everyday way to get around.
As for languages, Italian is my mother tongue. English is kind of everywhere these days, which makes it easy to practise and improve. I also studied French and Spanish at school and university—I understand them really well, but I’m a bit out of practice when it comes to speaking. And just recently, I started learning Turkish out of curiosity!
I’m a vegetarian, but very flexible when it comes to food, and I’m always happy to help out with cooking or other tasks around the house.
What excites me most about this experience is the chance to really become part of a new culture and daily life, while also giving a hand and being a positive presence for the children.
Thanks so much for considering me—I’d love to get to know you better and hopefully become part of your family!
Warmly,
Erika
