We are seeking a live-in caregiver to assist my mother with my care, as outlined in the welcome letter we have written.
How far is the city center? 10 miles or 10 minutes
Bus and Train Stop nearby? Our area has no buses or trains, but if you need to travel anywhere other than locally, the nearest bus stop is 32 miles away, and the nearest airport is one hour away.
We have spoken with the immigration attorney, and from what she says, we cannot apply for or hire anyone based solely on a J-1 Visa, as they are primarily intended for nannies and not for live-in caregiver positions.
We have been instructed to review as many candidates as possible and forward all certifications related to healthcare or caregiving to the lawyer, as the H-2 B visa requires the applicant to have specific qualifications and certificates to meet the government's criteria for a live-in caregiver.
Unfortunately, this will render many ineligible for the H-2 B visa and limit my selection of applicants. The H-2 B visa is for individuals with specific qualifications that meet government standards and guidelines. Depending on the workload of the US Department of Labor, processing applications may take some time.
We appreciate everyone who has shown interest in helping our family and has taken the time to correspond with me. Unfortunately, according to the immigration lawyer, I can only choose candidates with experience in the healthcare field, which is disheartening.
We hope and pray that you will find your dream job sooner rather than later, as I know you need a job to support yourself and your family back home.
