I am Tshepang but everyone calls me Tshepi.
I grew up in a very big family with too many cousins in different age groups and I am one of the older ones who still gets to babysit the little ones. Growing up in that environment has taught me how to be accommodating to different characters and that’s where I realised that I absolutely love being around children. I have 2 older siblings and a younger sister who is almost my twin and we were raised to be very close.
I am motivated by people. I get really excited when I see that I've made someone smile. It warms my heart. My mom always says that do everything in love because that's what God asks of us.
I started working with children when I was 12, in Sunday school (children's ministry) and I also worked in an aftercare/daycare.
I've worked with children from the age of 0-12 years and I later moved to youth ministry. The experience has always been amazing. The best part about all this is getting to see these children grow in the faith and seeing them move from children's ministry to youth ministry or from primary school to high school. It's always great to know that l've made a mark.
I am Tswana speaking so I am looking forward to teaching my host family a few words, South African dance moves and maybe a few dishes. I will also teach a few African hairstyles. Yes, we have unique hairstyles.
My family is the most important group of people in my life. I was raised in a Christian home and if it wasn't for the lessons I got from my parents, I wouldn't have the heart for this program. The support from my parents is amazing.
I really can't wait to meet my host family.
May God bless you."
