Dear future host family

I am Lanyaris Alexandra, I am 17 years old. I am from Santiago in the Dominican Republic. Let me tell you something about my land. I was born in Santo Domingo.

I grew up in Bonao, this sunny and quiet place, with a lot of good people. Here I lived in a girls' home, until 2016. In 2017 I moved to Santiago with my mother Ramona, my sisters Gloria and Miledys and my 2 nephews Derian and Rosalis, I have had the opportunity to meet many people from different places and live together with different people too.

Being away from home and dealing with very different people has helped me mature and grow as a person. I have learned to be more patient, tolerant and am able to communicate better to resolve misunderstandings. What can I tell you about me? I am a responsible, nice, very patient and empathetic girl. In my daily routine I am organized, decisive and dynamic.

I enjoy spending quality time with my family, friends. I am a person with a great desire to do many things, I like to discover new things: people, places, cultures. I would like to travel, I think it is a good way to meet new people if you travel alone or you could get to know your friends better if you travel with them. I like to dance, especially Brazilian music and in English or fashion. However, I usually listen to different musical styles.

I like to read, bake desserts and do crafts in my free time. Regarding my experience with children, I helped my sister take care of children, also when my mother worked at Conani I liked to go with her and ask permission to enter the baby rooms and help take care of them, I helped them wake up, have breakfast, eat, take care of their clothes and personal belongings and go to sleep. With the children that my sister took care of, we used to do many activities, such as crafts or games.

We teach them what is most important to me, we teach them values ​​such as responsibility, respect for others and nature, sharing, being grateful and loving. I used to help with the youngest children, from 0 to 5 years old. With them we play with different colored blocks so that they can learn it. It's so funny! We say good morning to everyone and sing songs! And finally this year I am applying to do a nursing course. I have also taken care of my neighbor's children so that she can go to work, both boys and girls. I helped her do her homework. I needed to be creative so they wouldn't get bored. Also, I would add that this year since I turn 18 I am going to get my driver's license, so it might be a good option if I had to take them somewhere.

The reason why I decided to do this is the pleasure of doing an adventure in another country in a family environment, which I value very much. I am very excited about this opportunity, I know that living with your children and with you, in a different country like the USA, will increase my personal background and I will learn a lot. Also, I would love to be part of your family.

Another reason why I applied is because I love children, it is for this reason that I am going to study Pediatrics and I think that being an au pair would allow me to connect better with children, so that when I finish my stay as an au pair I can enter university with new acquaintances. .
