During my time as an au pair in Jocelyn and Katja's family, I had the pleasure of caring for their three wonderful children. My responsibilities were centered around their daily routines, particularly during the busy morning and evening hours.
Every weekday morning, from 6:15 to 8:15, I assisted the children in getting ready for school or kindergarten. This included preparing breakfast, helping them get dressed, and ensuring their school bags and lunches were packed and ready. My goal was always to create a positive and organized start to their day, making sure they felt prepared and supported.
In the afternoons, from 16:30 to 18:00, I would take care of the children again, welcoming them home after school. I provided snacks, engaged them in playtime, or helped with their homework, ensuring they had a good balance of relaxation and productivity before dinner. Through these activities, I was able to build strong bonds with the children while helping them develop healthy routines.
On Wednesdays, Margaux stayed home from school, so I was responsible for her care from 07:00 to 18:00. I planned age-appropriate activities for her, such as outdoor play, arts and crafts, and reading, to keep her engaged and entertained throughout the day. Additionally, I prepared her meals and ensured she had a well-structured day that balanced fun and rest.
Although I did not participate in driving, I played a key role in maintaining the smooth functioning of the household. My careful planning and attentive care helped ensure that everything ran smoothly for the family.
Overall, this au pair experience greatly enhanced my childcare skills and allowed me to understand the dynamics of being an effective and caring member of a family. I formed deep connections with each member of Jocyln and Katja's family, and I am grateful for the warmth and trust they extended to me during my time with them.
