Dear Host Family,

My name is Angela and I am from Gijón, a city located on the coast of the Cantabrian Sea, in the north-western of Spain. Before turning 18 years old, I moved out to another city without my family to study what I wanted. Last year I graduated in Sport Science (University of Vigo), and I recently finished my Master’s degree of Teaching Training for Compulsory Secondary Education, for 12-18 years old teenagers (University of Oviedo).

I am an outgoing, persevering, and resilient person. When I have a goal, I work at it until I achieve it. One of my biggest passions is travelling and discovering other cultures. In the last few years, during my studies, I have been able to do Erasmus and mobility programmes in different countries: Turkey, France and Brazil. There I have been able to continue my studies and also to discover other lifestyles, cultures, religions, languages... What I liked the most is meeting local people and being able to immerse myself in the local culture. I also realized that I can adapt to different situations and scenarios, or even being resolute in dealing with problems or unexpected events. I found myself totally alone, starting new experiences, and it was so beautiful just to know all the people I met in my way, everything I could learn and all the precious moments I had.

Therefore, I like the nature, sea, animals, gastronomy, music, psychology, sports (especially inline speed skating, but in general I love to watch and practice many sports). Since I am little, I am a very active person and I always practicing different sports. I dedicated, at least, 12 years to inline speed skating, in which I was training everyday and I won a Spanish Championship. I can tell that sport taught me what effort ism what perseverance is, to not give up when something goes wrong, and above all, values such teamwork.

I have never had an Au Pair experience before, but I do have experience working with children and teenagers. I worked for several years as a skating instructor with children from 3 years old (and also with old people). I also had two different internships of few months in two different high schools as a PE teacher. Also, since February I am working in the field of education as a "Group Leader," responsible for leading groups of students from various educational institutions on short-stay language immersion courses to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

I want to work as an Au Pair for various reasons. First of all, I have always liked children and teenagers, and I like to work with them, that is why I want to work as a teacher for the rest of my life. In addition, I could improve my skills. Secondly, I think it is a unique opportunity to live in another country with a local family, being a full of learning unique experience and discover new places. I also love to exchange experiences and knowledge with people. Thirdly, I think it can be like a job that allows me to study meanwhile, for the preparation of competitive examinations (obligatory to become a teacher in the public schools).
