Dear Family,

My name is Clàudia.I am a twenty-year-old Spanish young woman looking to improve her English to travel the world whit more fluently. Let me introduce myself. I am currently pursuing a double degree in Biology and Environmental Sciences at the University of Girona (in Catalonia, Spain). I am fluent in Spanish and also speak Catalan as my mother tongue, which is the language spoken in the part of Spain where I come from. While languages have not been my strong suit, although I believe I have an intermediate level of English, I think this experience will be highly useful for overcoming my shyness and expressing myself more naturally.

I am a very adventurous, active, and enthusiastic person with extensive experience with children. I have worked as a monitor some summer camps, and I have served as a babysitter too. I was also a volunteer in a scout's group, "Minyons Escoltes i Guies de Catalunya" , we prepared and organized different activities related to nature for children, such as trekking, camping, nature races... I have a great love for animals and the mountains (hence my field of study). I have participated in several sports throughout my life, such as swimming, horseback riding, skiing, and more sporadically, I have also tried scuba diving, canyoning, rafting, and climbing. Currently, I practice Taekwondo and have developed a passion for mountain hiking with my little dog, my sister, and my mother. Despite being a very active person, I also enjoy reading, listening to music, and watching movies, considering myself a cinephile.
For the last three years, I have been selected to participate in a selective program named “Youth and Science”. This program is a part of "Science Academy", a training project of "The Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation" . It aims to stimulate scientific vocations among the youngest and provide knowledge about nature. The Foundation gave me the opportunity to perform a science internship at an international research center.

I was selected for a training program working in the pediatric oncology clinical area at Vall d'Hebron Hospital in Barcelona in September 2022. Last summer, I spent six weeks in an Amazonian community in Peru as a volunteer at Evergreen Institute . I lived with host families while receiving training as a biologist. During our free time, we provided academic support to the young people in the community and conducted environmental education activities. I have fond memories of the families that opened their homes to me, and I would love to share this Au Pair experience with you as well.
